Mountain Brauhaus: German Cuisine in Gardiner, NY

First time we went on a Saturday afternoon and there was over an hour wait, we decided not to stay. This time we called and hour before and made a reservation, We were very pleasantly surprised how much we truly enjoyed our food. The service was quick and friendly. The food was delicious and the atmosphere has a comfortable feel to it! We will be back for sure. Sorry to say they will be closed for winter (12/21/25-01/21/26) So I will have to wait :(

Love coming here! Its always so delicious! Went for lunch on a Friday and it was extremely busy. From start to finish, we were there 3 hours. They were extremely busy. The food was worth the wait! Best German food around!

This is so far one of my favorites restaurants. My husband and I have eaten in this restaurant several times, and the food is always consistent: generous portions, delicious and fresh ingredients. They always have a good selection of beers, the cocktails are great, and the service is always good. The bartender is super friendly, she is one of the reasons we always sit at the bar. We always get as appetizer the Bavarian pretzel All the sausages are delicious too. As a main dishes I will recommend the SCHWEINSHAXE (my favorite so far), the SCHNITZELS (my husband’s favorites), the HÜNCHENSANDWICH and my last dish yesterday it was in the seasonal menu the LAMB in a red wine sauce, omg it was so delicious. The perfect place for a family dinner, a romantic date with your partner, or simply a fun night out dining at the bar. If you have the opportunity, definitely go without hesitation. Besides its spectacular location and driving there will take you to see beautiful landscapes, there is no cell phone service so you won't see anyone on their cell phones, but talking and sharing it's a great atmosphere.

This is a German restaurant my second time that we go there the food is delicious, if you later at night I would recommend you make reservation. This restaurant is always so busy the bar is always full. Plenty of parking. We always stay around that area we can walk or drive there just across the street.

VUNDERBAR! Exactly what you would expect from the name. Food was sehr gut! That's "very good!" for you non-German speakers. Beer selection has impressive variety of German imports of different styles (IPA, Lager, Hefeweizen) so if you like to pair with your meal, as I do, you will have plenty of choices! I went with family that is straight-off-the-boat from Northern and Southern Germany and our meals took us all back to ze Mutterland, ya. It is awesome to see a restaurant using local produce and other products so try the honey ice cream. You wont be disappointed with anything you order! Guten Appetit!

Excellent, authentic, German food with large portions at a reasonable price in a pleasant, rustic, atmosphere. I had the Jägerschnitzel with potato pancakes instead of the red cabbage and it was delicious. The meal also came with a nice salad and delicious pumpernickel bread and some other kind of bread with caroway seeds - both were incredible. For dessert I had their warm apple strudel. Definitely save room for dessert! Special shout out to our waiter Omar. He was the nicest guy and he definitely enjoyed his job. He was terrific. All restaurants should have such attentive and pleasant waiters!

We had an incredible dinner at Mountain Brauhaus. The place has that true multigenerational, family-run feel with authentic German food that actually reminded us of the old Oak Chalet back on Long Island where we live. The cod was particularly unbelievable – perfectly cooked and full of flavor – and all of the German classics we tried were excellent. Our waitress, Francis, her brother, and the entire staff made us feel completely taken care of and created a really relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. A fantastic spot and absolutely worth the visit.

Hands down one of the best restaurant experiences we have ever had. From the vibes of the people, the energy of the place itself, and the incredibly delicious food, we were truly in heaven. I wished we lived closer so we could come once a month. A must get: the pretzel with mustard & cheese; the hot apple cider; the schnitzel with spatzel; and the nine layer honey cake. The complimentary gingerbread cookie at the end was the cherry on top to how amazing this place is. We cannot wait to be back.
